Now that the wedding season is slowing down I thought I’d give you a little taste of what goes on ‘behind the scenes’ at Hayley’s Piped Dreams! From May to September I’m so busy with weddings every week - sometimes as many as 3 in a week which can mean baking 12 or more cakes as well making lots of sugar flowers and of course delivering and assembling - it’s a 7 day a week job!
From the end of September weddings start to slow down a bit, but I’m still busy! At this time of year I spend a lot of time working on new designs, meeting with next years’ couples and attending wedding
The fairs are a chance for me to get out of the kitchen and chat to lots of lovely couples, they offer potential customers the opportunity to enjoy some tasters and sample pots to take home, to take a look at a few of my display cakes and have a look through my wedding portfolio.
Some of you may have seen me last week at Talhenbont Hall near Criccieth. Talhenbont is one of the most beautiful manor houses in the area and makes a stunning wedding venue. I was thrilled to be invited to attending their Wedding Open Day along with a select few of their recommended suppliers including Moncrieffe Hair, Sarah Burr from Thalasso Spa, Joseph J Walker and harpist Dylan Rowlands. The Hall was decorated by RHS Royal Chelsea Show medal winners, Springbank Flowers and there were beautiful bespoke wedding dresses by Matthew O’Brien on display in the bridal suite. I had a fantastic day and I’ve had lots of enquiries following the event so I hope to be back at Talhenbont next year delivering cakes for many of the couples I met.
Next up is the big one - Venue Cymru Wedding Fayre on this Sunday 29th October. This will be the first really big fair that I’ve done and I just hope I’ve got enough cake! There will be plenty of taster pots available on the day.
I’ll also be at Chateau Rhianfa Open Day on Sunday 5th November, 12-3pm and Bron Eifion Open Day on Saturday 18th November, 12-4pm.
If you see me out and about at any of these fairs then please pop over and say hi!
